
Nearly four months later, Gilbert Arenas learned his fate for violating D.C’s firearm laws Friday. The Wizards guard will avoid jail time, though he received a sentence of 30 days in a halfway house, 400 hours of community service, and a $5,000 fine. Arenas is said to be lucky to have avoided jail time, as per the letter of the law, anywhere from 6 months to 2 years is often recommended for the offense.
While his legal fate has been cleared up, his future as a Washington Wizard isn’t the same. There are some that feel that Arenas has played his last game in D.C, whether the team tries to buy him out of his contract, or finds a team crazy enough to trade for him.

Washington Wizards All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas was suspended today for the remainder of the season without pay, for the on-going legal woes surrounding him bringing guns to the Verizon Center. Arenas is facing potentially six months in prison for pleading guilty to carrying a gun into the arena, with his sentencing occurring March 26th. One of my favorite memories of Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas happened on his 25th birthday, when he threw one of the biggest parties in the history of Club Love in Washington D.C. The star-studded event featured a A-List of celebrities, athletes, dimes, video vixens, jumpoffs, etc. Arenas was coming off one of his best seasons as a Wizard, and was seemingly untouchable.
