6 Real Reasons Men Dump Women

Over the summer, I ran into two different ex’s whom I had not seen in years. While both were glad to see that I was doing well for myself, they indirectly both asked the same question: Why did I dump them. At the time that I did drop them, I did not have the maturity to truly articulate the honest reasons. I may have said we are “growing apart” or used the classic line “It’s not you, it’s me”, but that wasn’t it. I, like most men, dump women we once were in love with for one of the following 6 reasons.

6. All your friends are single.
The saying “birds of a feather flock together” is true. If you are the only man in the crew in a relationship, odds are the support to make that one work won’t be the same as perhaps her friends, who could be all in serious relationships and/or married by this point.

5. She was way too serious.
This could happen at any stage in the relationship. Some women wait till after they feel enough time has passed to not freak out their man with their true intentions of being the mother of his kids and wife for life. Some tell a man right from the start. Either way, when you realize the nice casual relationship you liked has turned into looking at bridal jewelry, run…fast.

4. My family, or hers.
Your family has a big part to play in the future development of your relationship. You may be head over heels for the girl, but if your loved ones don’t approve, it can cause some added stress that you may not want to deal with. What if her family doesn’t like you?

3. Boredom
If you, or her, get bored in the relationship, trouble will soon brew. The key to any healthy growing bond between two people is that you are always keeping things fresh. If it starts to feel stagnant, then odds are the spark is gone, and you are simply going through the motions.

2. Temptation
A man is only as faithful as his options, and if you know your worth, you realize you have plenty of them. The thought of settling down sometimes scares a man who is not yet ready to pick just one just yet.

1. Mars and Venus
I always believe men and women should take time to have the serious conversations about the topics that matter in a relationship early. That way, before people invest too much time, money, or energy, you can get a true idea of how that person thinks and feels on what is important to you. Those real topics include how many kids you want to have, where you guys would live, finances in a relationship, how long is too long to date before getting engaged, etc.
