4 Ways To Get More Me Time in Relationships

Any healthy relationship has balance. Whether it’s between both of your vigorous work schedules, or other personal obligations you had prior to your relationship. You want to make sure that you make enough time that you enjoy the time together you have, but what happens when you feel you have no time for yourself? Take these 4 simple steps.

1. Figure out when things changed.
At some point in the relationship, your girl took it upon herself to become your personal assistant. She planned every waking minute of every hour that you weren’t on someone else’s clock. You may have not minded at first, but that’s where you went wrong. Relationships do mean you will spend more time together than casual dating, but it does not mean you don’t have some me time.

2. Reset some boundaries.
Once you realize when things changed, it’s time to get things back in order. This may mean fitting in that time at the gym, or meetings with your frat brothers. It may also mean time with your family, or just a relaxing afternoon off. You will thank yourself later once you do this.

3. Prepare for the argument.
Often, women who are controlling of their man’s time are one’s who are insecure, so any sense of you trying to regain some “free time freedom” will be cause for beef. Expect this, and state the reasons why you need what you once had. If your girl is understanding, she will adapt to it.

4. Be ready for the cause and effect.
There are, unfortunately, some women who just can’t deal with their not being under their man all the time. Often these women throw themselves completely into a relationship, losing the identity they had prior to that man. If they don’t work out, she is emotionally distraught, and usually spites all men because of it. Remember though, you are not asking for something you never had. You simply need some more me time, and that is perfectly ok (and normal) in healthy relationships.
