It’s funny the conversations that can come up at work. I was listening to one girl tell the other the guy she was dating was “too pretty for her”. When asked to elaborate, she went on to say that he spent more time primping in the mirror than she did, and got his nails done more often than she did. By this point, I bumped my way into the conversation, and asked what made you get with the guy if he has been like this from the jump? Her answer, “He was fine”.

The same general answer that a brotha would give another when we are complaining about how that “dime” we met out one night is driving us crazy months later. At times, physical or sexual attraction clouds the common sense indicator (CSI) that all of us have instilled. Though the girl realized that, she brought up a valid point. There are many brothas that cross the thin line between keeping yourself up and being pretty. With respect to those Kappas that are supporters of the cause here, being “pretty” isn’t a good thing for a grown ass man. So what makes you “too pretty for her?” Check out these 6 symptoms.

6. You take longer than her to get dressed.
This one isn’t anything new, but still rings true. If you and your girl are headed out for a night on the town, and it takes you three hours to get dressed, and her 1, there might be a slight problem. No female wants to be in competition with their man for the mirror on a Friday night.

5. You are addicted to the gym.
Don’t get it twisted. Women like their man to be in shape, but they don’t like that brotha that is in love with his body more than her. If he spends more time lifting weights than lifting her, there might be trouble.

4. Your arrogance used to turn her on, but now repulses her.
When things started, she used to think that was cool you knew you were the ish. Now, she rolls her eyes when you tell her daily.

3. If you have a bad hair day, you call out sick.
That might be extreme, but you definitely aren’t going to any social events if you don’t look “your best”.

2. You have groupies, jumpoffs, and sidekicks, and she knows about them.
This isn’t just a problem for brothas with money. Sometimes you just got it like that.

1. You get more attention than her.
This one takes the cake. If you get more compliments than her when you two are out, odds are she won’t be cool with it.
