Our latest installment of Monday’s Mailbag comes from a YB reader who is having trouble with a friendship at work interfering with her relationship. Guest blogger Quick checks in with his advice for her. Check it out, and let us know what you think.
Hello YoungBrothas.com,
I found your website through my boyfriend, and have learned some things I never knew about how some of you guys think. I have a question that I hope you feature on your mailbag. A guy I work with broke up with his girl almost 3 months ago, and has been dropping hints about being interested in me since then. He knows I have a man(he has even met him), and while I enjoy his friendship, I don’t want to lose it or my relationship. Should I tell my man that he is hitting on me, or if not, what should I tell him so that he gets the picture we cant cross that line?Niyesha
Niyesha,
Your problem stems back to a question that people have been asking for a long time: Can men and women JUST be friends?
From what i gather, you and your co-worker have established a good friendship. In a opposite sex friendship, it’s common that someone will develop a deeper attraction, and it seems that your co-worker’s recent breakup opened the door for him to develop those feelings for you.
Before you bring your man into the mix, I task you to think about how you interact with your co-worker. Do you consider yourself a naturally flirtatious person? Could you be sending any signals or revealing certain things to your co-worker that could lead him to believe that you are not happy in your relationship?
If your answer to those questions is no, then i would advise your to be honest with your co-worker. Since you two are good friends, just talk with him and let him know what he’s doing to make you feel uncomfortable. If he respects you and values your friendship, he should fall back and stop hitting on you. If this doesn’t work, then maybe you should re-consider the friendship.

The easiest girls to get with are the ones you work with!
@divinci …but often times it will make for an awkward situation if it doesn't end well. I try to stay away from the office booty, lol-
