While I can't say I agree with the way the author is going about getting our attention, he does make some valid points. But I would love to see a book written that doesn't just point fingers at problems but deals with the way men and women relate to one another in our community, and how we can make it better. Steve Harvey's book as well as this man's book points out the myths, wrongs, and all of the women but doesn't include the men's problems as well, and offer solutions for both. I am all for selling books but sell books that are open minded and solution oriented. We need to learn to talk to one another PERIOD. Saying what's wrong with sisters and brothers doesn't solve anything.
I agree that dont bring up a problem unless you have a viable resolution to it. I have not read Hassani's book yet, but should be getting a copy, and will be doing a giveaway on YoungBrothas later this month. As for Steve Harvey, while I personally like him, some feel he is also using media outlets like Oprah etc to market himself in a light other than a comedian.
Black men and women hate each other… and i don't see it getting any better within our lifetime.
You think black women HATE black men? I know of some that dont like things we do, but hate is a strong word. AS I told the author of the book, I dont hate any women, I just dont like some characteristics of some that I've come across lol.
Thank you for posting this interview. I was looking for additional information about the author and book, so I could decide whether or not to purchase it. My google search led me to this site. I agree with Dannigyrl in that we need to discuss the importance of effective communication skills, which is greatly needed within our community. A major problem Black men and women have is an inability to communicate and express our wants, needs, and desires. Often, false stereotypes and expectations open the door for disdain and hatred… No one has much to say that has substance, but everyone is still talking, ignoring what the other group has to say. I hope Black authors will start to tackle this relevant issue.
